It is noted that many older residents in Qasigiannguit face challenges regarding care and services. Therefore, Siumut believes that there is a need to better listen to residents and older adults and to develop clear plans for the area.
According to Siumut, older adults play an important role in society, and the municipality should ensure that they can live a dignified and secure life, with respect and proper care.
In the open letter, the local chapter raises the following questions, among others:
- Does the Municipality of Qeqertalik have a separate policy for the elderly?
- How does the municipality plan to involve residents in the development of its senior citizen policy?
- How can we improve working conditions for employees and recruitment in the field of elder care?
- What specific initiatives are the city council and the mayor planning?
Siumut in Qasigiannguit is calling on the municipality to engage in an open dialogue with residents and to set clear goals for the future of senior care.
