Treatment Coordinator for the Family Center:
We are seeking a psychologist to serve as treatment director at the family center, effective October 1, 2026, or as otherwise agreed.
The position is based at the Family Center in Qaqortoq and reports to the Family Center director.
About the Qaqortoq Family Center
The Family Center consists of a total of three family homes located in the towns of Qaqortoq, Nanortalik, and Narsaq, a drop-in center for children and youth, and a treatment home for youth and vulnerable pregnant women and families with young children.
The Family Center offers day treatment and preventive services for children, youth, and their families under the Social Services Department of the Municipality of Kujalleq. Treatment is organized based on a systemic, resource-oriented, and holistic approach, with the needs of each individual family as the starting point. The treatment services offered at the Family Center include: Therapeutic programs, psychological assessments, crisis intervention, family therapy, practical educational guidance and support, educational programs and parenting courses, open counseling, staff supervision, and consultative assistance to government advisors. The Family Center also manages South Greenland’s psychosocial crisis response.
The Family Center’s staff is multidisciplinary and currently consists of a director, psychotherapists, family counselors, youth counselors, family group conference coordinators, and early intervention staff. In addition, the Family Center works closely with other relevant agencies in the municipality.

Responsibilities and Duties:
Overall, as the treatment coordinator, you will be responsible for the therapeutic and treatment-related services provided to families referred to the Family Center in Qaqortoq, the family houses in Narsaq and Nanortalik, “Early Intervention,” and the crisis centers in the Municipality of Kujalleq.
The tasks include, among other things:
Day-to-day management of the treatment teams in the departments, including task assignment, peer support, supervision, and support for the development of staff competencies.
Participation in treatment, assessment, and intake interviews as needed (individual, couple, family, and group sessions), as well as participation in open counseling sessions.
Quality assurance of family therapy, including ensuring that records are kept up to date, following up on plans, status reports, the duty to take notes, and the duty to report.
Professional development, where you help ensure systemic, holistic, and solution-focused practices, as well as develop and implement methods and tools.
Interdisciplinary collaboration and coordination with internal and external partners.
Implementation of courses and projects such as Family Development Courses and Manu Courses, as well as support for group programs and other initiatives.
Organizational tasks, such as leading change processes and ensuring that policy guidelines are operationalized and implemented, as well as serving as the deputy for the family center director in his or her absence.
Travel to cities and towns and emergency preparedness.
We place importance on the fact that you:
- holds a Master of Psychology (cand.psych.) or a Master of Educational Psychology (cand.pæd.psych.) degree
- has experience in the field of child and family services in general, particularly family therapy with vulnerable families facing serious challenges.
- is approachable and able to establish a safe and trusting relationship with children, adolescents, and adults alike
- is holistic, development-oriented, and resource-focused
- can work independently while also collaborating closely with both internal and external partners within their own discipline and across disciplines
- is curious and eager to explore when it comes to getting to know a new and different culture
It is an advantage if you:
- Has completed post-graduate or continuing education in family therapy or another form of therapeutic treatment
- Has experience structuring and coordinating treatment plans
- Is familiar with Greenlandic culture
- Is bilingual and speaks both Greenlandic and Danish
Criminal Record and Child Protection Certificate:
This position is subject to the law requiring criminal and child protection background checks. Under this law, employment cannot begin until the municipality has received satisfactory criminal and child protection background checks. We must therefore point out that the start date cannot be agreed upon until the municipality has received a child protection certificate from the National Police and a criminal record check from the police.
The child protection record is obtained by the municipality with the individual’s consent, while the criminal record is obtained by the individual from the police.
Salary and Terms of Employment:
Salary and employment conditions are governed by the applicable collective bargaining agreement between the Government of Greenland and another relevant organization authorized to negotiate.
The workweek is 40 hours.
Housing:
Staff housing may be provided for this position, for which a security deposit, rent, utilities, etc., will be paid in accordance with the rules in effect at any given time regarding rent payments for properties owned by the Government of Greenland and municipalities, etc., in Greenland. If permanent staff housing cannot be made available immediately upon taking up the position, employees entitled to vacant housing will be offered temporary vacant housing, for which rent, utilities, etc., are paid in accordance with the above. Relocation travel and household goods relocation are provided in accordance with applicable rules.
