The headquarters of the Qeqertalik Municipality, INUA, is seeking two interpreters and translators to begin work on June 1, 2026, or as mutually agreed upon.

You will be responsible for translating documents related to the Inoqarfik, Inuit, and Timi Tarnilu sectors, as well as any documents necessary for performing duties within the Qeqertalik municipality.

This position is based at INUA, and your department head will be the Chief of Secretariat.

 Your closest colleagues will be other translators, political secretaries in the Secretariat, the Communications Department, and other departments within the Qeqertalik Municipality.

As an interpreter for the Qeqertalik Municipality, your duties will include:

Translation and Interpretation

Continuous translation, particularly in Greenland and Denmark, includes the following situations:

  • Local Council and Standing Committee
  • Both within and outside the Kegertalik Municipal District 
  • Translation using TMS translation tools

We expect you to:

· Holds a degree in translation and interpretation. 

· Possesses IT skills at the user level. 

Can provide services with high standards

Can work independently and flexibly.

·Possesses good teamwork skills and is friendly.

· Experience in translation using a Translation Management System (TMS), with TMS training provided after appointment.

Criminal History: 

This position is subject to the law regarding criminal background checks. Employment cannot commence until the local authority has received the results of the criminal background check. Therefore, we must clarify that the start date cannot be agreed upon until the local authority has received the results of the criminal background check from the police.

Salary and Employment Conditions:

The salary and employment conditions will be in accordance with the collective agreement in effect at the time of appointment between Naalakkersuisut and the organization authorized to negotiate.

Residence:

Accommodation for employees may be provided for this position, subject to payment of a deposit, rent, utilities, and other applicable fees in accordance with the regulations in effect at the time regarding rental payments for properties owned by the Greenland Government, municipalities, or others in Greenland. If permanent accommodation cannot be provided to the employee immediately upon taking up the position, eligible employees will be offered available temporary accommodation. They will be required to pay the A-tax for the benefits received in accordance with current legislation. 

Alternatively, the start date is subject to when employee accommodation becomes available. Travel expenses for relocation and moving household items will be covered according to relevant regulations.

Employee accommodations must be canceled upon termination of employment.
