About the position
As a family therapist at the family center, you will work with children, adolescents, and their families to promote well-being, development, and healthy family relationships. This work involves supporting children, adolescents, and parents in creating a safe and stable daily life characterized by care, predictability, and positive interactions. The work is based on the family’s resources and focuses on developing parents’ skills, strengthening the child’s social and emotional development, and improving communication and bonding within the family. Through a holistic and appreciative approach, we work to reduce conflicts, increase understanding of each other’s needs, and create lasting, positive changes in family relationships.
You will be part of a multidisciplinary team and take a holistic approach to your work, focusing on the family’s resources and needs.
Primary responsibilities
- Provide support and treatment to families in vulnerable situations
- Develop and implement individual action plans in collaboration with the family
- Work on developing parenting skills and building relationships
- Observe and assess the child's well-being and development
- Document the work and maintain records in the relevant systems
- Participate in interdisciplinary collaboration with, for example, schools, daycare centers, and government advisors
- Plan and conduct interviews, home visits, and any group sessions
Professional qualifications
- Relevant social work education (e.g., social worker, educator, or similar)
- Experience with family therapy or working with vulnerable children and families
- Knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., the Social Services Act)
- Experience with documentation and action planning
- Preferably continuing education in systemic, narrative, or mentalization-based approaches

Certificate of No Criminal Record for Working with Children:
This position is subject to the law requiring a background check for work with children. Under the law, employment may not begin until the municipality has obtained a background check for work with children.
The background check will be taken into account in the municipality’s decision regarding who to hire for the position.
Salary and employment terms:
Salary and employment conditions are governed by the applicable collective bargaining agreement between the Government of Greenland and another relevant bargaining organization.
Housing:
Staff housing may be provided for this position, for which a security deposit, rent, utilities, etc., will be paid in accordance with the rules in effect at any given time regarding rent payments for properties owned by the Government of Greenland and municipalities in Greenland. If permanent staff housing cannot be made available immediately upon commencement of employment, employees entitled to vacant housing will be offered temporary vacant housing, for which rent, utilities, etc., will be paid in accordance with the above. Relocation travel and household goods relocation are provided in accordance with applicable rules.
