The Greenland Fire Academy, in collaboration with Nuummi Qatserisartut, conducted the FUI firefighter training program from May 4 to May 28, 2026.
Two participants from the Qeqertalik Municipal Fire Department took part in the training: David-Peter Jeremiassen from the fire station in Kangaatsiaq and Jouan Karlsen from the fire station in Akunnaaq. Both have now passed the final exam and are certified firefighters.
With this training, they are equipped to participate in firefighting and rescue operations in both fires and accidents, including work as smoke divers.
A total of 15 participants completed the program, 13 of whom came from various cities along the coast.
The Qeqertalik Fire Department has thus gained two newly trained firefighters.
