The Qeqertalik Municipality’s headquarters, INUA, is seeking two interpreters and translators to begin employment on August 1, 2026, or as otherwise agreed.
You will be responsible for translating documents related to the Inoqarfik, Inuit, and Timi Tarni areas, as well as documents needed to carry out tasks in the Municipality of Qeqertalik.
The position is based at INUA, and your immediate supervisor is the head of the secretariat.
Your closest colleagues are the other interpreters, the political secretaries in the secretariat, the communications department, and other departments within the Municipality of Qeqertalik.
As an interpreter for the Municipality of Qeqertalik, you will be responsible for the following tasks:
·Written translation and interpretation
·Simultaneous interpretation, primarily in Greenlandic and Danish, including in the following situations:
- Municipal Council and Standing Committees
- Internal and External Affairs in the Municipality of Qeqertalik
- Translation using the TMS machine translation tool
We expect you to:
·Has a degree in translation and interpreting
·Has user-level knowledge of computers
·Can provide a high level of service
·Can work independently and flexibly
·Has good teamwork skills and is friendly
·Has experience translating using TMS, and training in the use of TMS will be provided upon hire

Criminal Record:
This position is subject to the law requiring a criminal background check. Under this law, employment cannot begin until the municipality has received a criminal background check. We must therefore point out that the start date cannot be agreed upon until the municipality has received the criminal record check from the police.
Salary and Terms of Employment:
Salary and terms of employment are governed by the collective bargaining agreement in effect between Naalakkersuisut and the authorized bargaining organization at the time of hire.
Housing:
Staff housing may be provided for this position; a security deposit, rent, utilities, etc., will be paid in accordance with the rules in effect at any given time regarding rent payments for properties owned by the Government of Greenland and municipalities in Greenland. If permanent employee housing cannot be made available immediately upon starting employment, employees entitled to vacant housing will be offered temporary vacant housing, for which A-tax on non-cash benefits will be paid in accordance with applicable law.
OR The start date depends on when staff housing becomes available. Travel expenses for moving to the new location and household goods relocation are provided in accordance with applicable rules.
An employee residence must be vacated upon termination of employment.
