Would you like to help provide one of the municipality’s core services to residents in need? The Municipality of Qeqertalik Qeqertarsuaq is seeking a social worker for its Social Services Department, to start on June 1, 2026, or as otherwise agreed.

You will be part of a team of other caseworkers in the social services department, where the department head will be your immediate supervisor. This position involves everyone working together to handle the wide variety of tasks in the social services field, and you will be expected to perform on-call duties.

Duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Processing of various applications from citizens received by the Social Services Department
  • Help ensure that all financial requirements and business procedures are strictly followed in this area, in accordance with applicable laws.

·Assessment and analysis of the citizen’s financial situation in accordance with the regulation in specific and various areas

·Providing advice to residents regarding their financial situation

·Develop action plans in close collaboration with the individual

·Priority case processing for citizens who require urgent assistance

·Assist with and share responsibility for case management in other cases handled by the Social Services Department

Qualifications:

·A degree in social work, a degree in social services administration, an HK degree supplemented by professional courses in social law, or a degree in social services assistance supplemented by professional courses in social law, or a willingness to take such courses. Or, experience in case management within the social services sector.

·Has experience in case management for children, youth, and families

·Experience with financial case management in the social services sector.

·Systematic, reliable, and a model of excellence in accordance with the requirements of the decorum.

·Good at interacting with the public and communicating.

·Mental resilience is essential for performing this job.

Salary and employment terms:

Salary and terms of employment are governed by the collective bargaining agreement in effect at the time of hire

Criminal record and child protection clearance:

This position is subject to the law requiring criminal and child protection background checks. Under the law, employment cannot begin until the municipality has received satisfactory criminal and child protection background checks. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received a child protection certificate from the National Police and a criminal record check from the Police.

The Child Protection Certificate is obtained by the municipality with the individual’s consent, while the criminal record is obtained by the individual from the police.

Housing:

Staff housing may be provided for this position; a security deposit, rent, utilities, etc., will be paid in accordance with the rules in effect at any given time regarding rent payments for properties owned by the Government of Greenland and the municipality, etc., in Greenland. If permanent staff housing cannot be made available immediately upon starting employment, employees entitled to vacant housing will be offered temporary vacant housing, for which A-tax on non-monetary benefits will be paid in accordance with applicable law.

OR The start date depends on when staff housing becomes available. Relocation travel and moving expenses will be provided in accordance with applicable regulations.

Staff housing must be vacated upon termination of employment.
