The Puilasoq residential care facility in Qasigiannguit is seeking a department head, effective May 1, 2026.

The residential facility stopped taking in children in 2024, and the municipal council of Qeqertalik Municipality is keen to reopen the facility as of January 1, 2026.
The Puilasoq Children’s Home is a municipal residential facility in Qasingiannguit designed to help children and young people find peace of mind and create a safe, home-like environment where residents can develop positively, both physically and mentally, as they strive to lead fulfilling, responsible, and engaged lives.
The residential facility has a capacity of 8 residents.
Some of the responsibilities:
·Ensuring that the core values of the Municipality of Qeqertalik are upheld in everyday life
·Ensure a structured, caring, and development-supportive daily routine for the residents.
·Motivate and develop the department’s employees.
·Plan and coordinate day-to-day operations, including shift schedules, meetings, and tasks.
·Develop and follow up on action plans, documentation, and professional assessments.
·Work closely with government agencies, parents/guardians, and external partners.
About you;
·That you have a degree in education or a similar field
·That you have knowledge of working with children who have experienced neglect and understand their needs, so that you can help them lead a daily life that is both functional and supportive of their development
·That you have a positive outlook on people and are committed to fostering a daily environment that promotes positive growth
·A clear and hands-on leadership style.
·The ability to bring calm, direction, and stability to a complex daily routine.
·Resilience and decision-making skills.
·Flexibility and the ability to handle unpredictable situations.
An understanding of Greenlandic culture in everyday life is essential, as much of the work involves outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing.

Salary and employment terms:
Salary and terms of employment are governed by the collective agreement in effect at the time of employment between Naalakkersuisut and the authorized bargaining organization.
Housing:
Staff housing may be provided for this position, for which a security deposit, rent, utilities, etc., will be paid in accordance with the rules in effect at any given time regarding rent payments for properties owned by the Government of Greenland and the municipality, etc., in Greenland. If permanent staff housing cannot be made available immediately upon commencement of employment, employees entitled to vacant housing will be offered temporary vacant housing, for which rent, utilities, etc., will be paid in accordance with the above. Criminal and Child Protection Background Checks: This position is subject to the law requiring criminal and child protection background checks. Under the law, employment may not begin until the municipality has received satisfactory criminal and child protection background checks. We must therefore note that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received a child protection certificate from the National Police and a criminal record check from the Police.
The Child Protection Record is obtained by the municipality with the individual’s consent, while the criminal record is obtained by the individual from the police
