We are looking for psychologists who can work within a system based on the Greenlandic language and culture.

We prefer that you have experience in educational psychology work with children and adolescents, as well as the ability to work independently and flexibly on a wide variety of tasks. 

MISI Kujalleq is based in Qaqortoq and is responsible for providing educational and psychological counseling in the three towns of South Greenland. In addition to the school in Qaqortoq, it serves the schools in Narsaq and Nanortalik, as well as the surrounding villages. It also serves the preschool sector (children and youth ages 0–18). The office is staffed with five positions: a lead psychologist, a psychologist, a special education consultant, a speech and hearing consultant, and an administrative assistant.

Organizationally, MISI Kujalleq is structured as a department under the Administration for Daycare Centers, Schools, Employment, and Culture. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manages and assigns work at MISI/PPR
  • Budget and Human Resources Manager
  • Hiring and terminations in consultation with the administrative director.
  • Planning work related to operations in collaboration with other employees.
  • Participation in internal and external development work.
  • Based on discussions with the consultant and the assistant psychologist, approves the number of hours and the organizational structure of the special education classes.
  • Approves employees' vacation and training schedules.
  • Your vacation and training schedule must be approved by the administrative director. 
  • Performs the same duties as the staff psychologist (see below)
  • Responsible for MISI meetings, morning meetings, and departmental meetings
  • Responsible for MISI-Kujalleq’s participation in interagency collaboration within the municipality and with relevant agencies, such as the municipal administration, schools, the health care system, social services, etc.
  • Ensuring professional development, including staff training, courses, and continuing education
  • Peer Supervision in Psychology 
  • Supervision of one's own tasks.

Child Protection Certificate:

This position is subject to the law requiring a child protection clearance. Under the law, employment may not begin until the municipality has obtained a child protection clearance. 

The child protection clearance will be taken into account in the municipality’s assessment of who should be hired for the position.

Employment on Favorable Terms

In accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreements for senior school psychologists, employment is governed by the collective bargaining agreement of August 27, 2014, between Naalakkersuisut and IMAK. For applicants who are already civil servants in Greenland, this form of employment may be continued. 

Staff housing will be assigned, for which rent, a security deposit, etc., will be paid in accordance with the rules in effect at any given time. There may be a waiting period for the allocation of permanent housing due to the housing situation; therefore, you should expect to be housed in a vacant unit for a period of time. 

Relocation travel and household goods relocation are provided in accordance with applicable rules.
