Would you like to help shape the digital future of the Municipality of Kujalleq?

The Municipality of Kujalleq is seeking a Director of IT, Digitalization, and Information Security

IT shouldn’t just work.

It should make a difference.

For the employee, who needs to be able to do their job effectively. For the manager, who needs robust systems and a solid basis for decision-making. And for the organization, which needs to be able to evolve in an increasingly digital world.

For this reason, the Municipality of Kujalleq is creating a new executive position with responsibility for IT, digitalization, information security, and strategic digital development.

We’re looking for someone who can both see the big picture and understand what it takes to make things work in practice.

You’re not just responsible for our IT.

You need to help move it.

A new leadership role where you can make your mark

The position will play a central and cross-functional role in the Municipality of Kujalleq.

You will be responsible for ensuring alignment between day-to-day IT operations, the municipality’s digital development, information security, and the specific needs of the organization.

It also means that you’ll be taking on a role where not everything is defined in advance.

Priorities must be set. A structure must be established. A bridge must be built between technology and the organization. And a clear direction must be set for how the Municipality of Kujalleq will approach IT and digitization in the future.

In short: You’ll have the opportunity to help build the next chapter of our digital organization.

What will you be responsible for?

Your area of responsibility covers a wide range of topics—from stable operations and security to development, strategy, and management consulting.

Among other things, you will be responsible for:

set the strategic direction for the municipality’s IT and digitalization initiatives

Ensure stable and consistent IT operations and development

lead and coordinate digitization initiatives across the municipality

Strengthen the municipality’s information and cybersecurity

Provide an overview and establish priorities within the municipality’s system portfolio

ensure professional management of suppliers, contracts, and licenses

develop common standards and principles in the field of information technology

Advise the executive board, managers, and functional areas on technology and digitalization

translate the organization’s needs into concrete and realistic digital solutions

the uncertain relationship between technology, the economy, and the municipality’s strategic goals

Lead and develop employees in the IT field.

At the same time, you’ll become an important partner for the municipality’s administrative departments. For us, digitization isn’t about technology for technology’s sake.

The goal is to better equip the municipality to fulfill its core mission.

We’re looking for a leader—not just an IT specialist

You don’t have to be the one who configures every server or solves every technical challenge yourself.

On the other hand, you need to be able to ask the right questions.

You must be able to set a direction, establish priorities, and understand the consequences of technological choices. And you must be able to bridge the gap between technology, finance, management, and the day-to-day realities faced by municipal employees.

We expect you to have solid experience in several of the following areas:

Management. IT. Digitalization. Information Security. Strategic Development. Change Management. Supplier Management.

Your educational background may vary. The most important thing is that you have the experience and leadership skills to lead a department that is of great importance to the entire organization.

You can handle both strategy and reality

One day, you might discuss long-term digital priorities with the executive board.

Next, you might find yourself facing a specific challenge related to a system, a vendor, security, or a workflow that isn’t working well enough.

You should feel comfortable with that range.

We therefore place importance on you:

has relevant management experience

Ohar has a solid understanding of IT and digitalization

understands information and cybersecurity as both a technical and an organizational responsibility

can translate strategy into concrete actions

Works in a structured manner and can prioritize among many competing demands

communicates complex issues clearly and understandably

can foster collaboration across disciplines and organizational boundaries

We must challenge existing solutions when there is a better way

can be both a strategic leader and a hands-on manager.

Why the Municipality of Kujalleq?

Because here you get something that isn’t found in every management position:

The opportunity to truly shape the area.

The Municipality of Kujalleq seeks a stronger and more cohesive management framework for IT, digitization, and information security.

That is why we are creating this management position.

The goal is clear: IT must be a shared municipal function that supports the entire organization. Digitalization must be approached from a cross-functional perspective. Information security must be a natural part of the way we work. And technological investments must align with the municipality’s actual needs and priorities.

Therefore, you won’t just be managing an existing area.

You’ll be part of developing it.

Your position in the organization

The position reports to the Chief Financial Officer, to whom you will report directly.

Your role will also be cross-functional, and you will work closely with the executive management team, municipal departments, managers, IT staff, as well as external vendors and partners.

Major strategic decisions regarding IT and digitalization are addressed at the appropriate executive level and, where necessary, at the political level.

Terms of Employment

The position is expected to be classified in pay grade 38 (LR 38), with pension benefits in accordance with applicable rules and collective bargaining agreements.

The final salary and employment terms will be determined at the time of hire.

Any benefits related to, among other things, relocation and travel to the new assignment will be provided in accordance with applicable rules.

Are you the one who will set the direction?

We are not looking for a manager who thinks that digital transformation is just about buying a new system.

We are looking for a manager who can see the connection between people, the organization, technology, and security—and who can translate that connection into something that works in everyday life.

If you can combine strategic vision with decisiveness, leadership, and an understanding of technology, this could be your opportunity to play a key role in the development of the Municipality of Kujalleq.
