These employees have completed 40 years of uninterrupted service at the same workplace, Meeraaqqerivik Inequnaat in Qasigiannguit. This milestone was celebrated at Meeraaqqerivik Inequnaat in Qasigiannguit.
On Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., an anniversary celebration was held at Meeraaqqerivik Inequnaat in Qasigiannguit. The guests of honor were two employees, Mette Nikolajsen and Lena L. Nielsen. In attendance at the celebration were the honorees’ families and close friends, as well as Deputy Mayor Jens Vetterlain and City Manager Nikolanguaq Nikku Brandt from the Municipality of Qeqertalik.
The celebration began with a welcome address by Deputy Director Margrethe Samuelsen of Meeraaqqerivik Inequnaat. Following the welcome, Deputy Mayor Jens Vetterlain gave a speech on behalf of the municipal council, after which diplomas signed by Mayor Simigaq Heilmann were presented.
Before the coffee reception began, the director of Meeraaqqerivik Inequnaat, Sussi M. Jerimiassen, also gave a speech.
Mette Nikolajsen was hired at Meeraaqqerivik Inequnaat on June 18, 1986.
Lena K. Nielsen was hired at Meeraaqqerivik Inequnaat on June 27, 1986.
The Municipality of Qeqertalik extends its warmest congratulations to Mette and Lena on their anniversary. It is rare for someone to be employed at the same workplace for 40 years.
