The Greenlandic clothing brand Meqqusaalik has made a strong impression in Denmark. In a test conducted by Jægernes Magasin, the brand’s Malik anorak was named the best premium hunting jacket after a weekend of challenging weather conditions on Funen.
Built for Arctic conditions
This year marks the tenth anniversary of KNI in Sisimiut launching its own clothing line. At first, the clothing was primarily aimed at customers in the Pilersuisoq stores, but the company’s ambitions quickly grew.
The goal of Meqqusaalik was to create high-quality, functional clothing for Arctic conditions—durable, warm, and affordable for more people.
Since November 2025, the products have also been available to Danish customers, and in connection with the launch, a number of the brand’s core products were sent to Jægernes Magasin for an independent review.
The reviewers were not familiar with the brand beforehand, but they quickly highlighted its Greenlandic roots as something special.
“Meqqusaalik isn’t just another outdoor brand,” the magazine wrote, noting, among other things, that the clothing is designed based on the experiences of hunters and fishermen in Greenland, where garments must be able to withstand both harsh weather and heavy wear and tear.
KNI is pleased with the positive reception in Denmark.
“We are, of course, very pleased with the truly positive reception our Malik anorak and overtrousers have received in Denmark. We were curious to see how the clothing would perform in a warmer climate, where temperatures ranged from 2 to 11 degrees with wind and rain,” says Marketing Manager Anders Stenbakken
