Naalakkersuisoq for Education, Culture, Sports, and the Church Nivi Olsen has expressed strong support for Greenland’s participation in the Special Olympics Sports Festival, which will be held in Roskilde from May 29 to 31, 2026.
A total of 23 athletes and 10 support staff from Greenland are participating in the sports festival, which is Denmark’s largest sporting event for people with developmental disabilities.
The participants represent various regions across the country and will compete in sports such as soccer, boccia, track and field, badminton, floorball, and bowling. This is Greenland’s second time participating, and the increase in the number of participants reflects a positive trend and a strong commitment to the sport.
“We’re rooting for you
! We’re incredibly proud of the Greenlandic team, which embodies community, determination, and a zest for life. You are strong role models who inspire others through your dedication and love of sports. We wish all participants and support staff the best of luck at the 2026 Special Olympics Sports Festival. I am sure that you will all have unforgettable experiences, strengthen your sense of community, and take new inspiration home with you,” says Nivi Olsen.
