The Municipality of Kujalleq would like to thank residents and businesses for their tremendous support during yesterday’s trash collection, which, according to Municipal Director Randi Vestergaard Evaldsen, was marked by a spirit of commitment, community, and responsibility.
“On behalf of the municipality, I would like to extend my sincere and heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated in yesterday’s trash collection. It was a wonderful day filled with dedication, community spirit, and a sense of responsibility,” she says.
According to the municipal director, it was inspiring to see the large turnout and the citizens’ enthusiasm.
– It was truly inspiring to see so many happy, smiling, and proud residents coming together to take care of our community. Judging by the photos and the large amount of trash that was collected, I can only say: you’ve done an impressive job. I am both proud and grateful for the tremendous effort you have made. Nature has undoubtedly benefited greatly from it, says Randi Vestergaard Evaldsen.
She also emphasizes that keeping the municipality clean is everyone’s responsibility.
– Some of the litter is, of course, caused by storms and the weather, but unfortunately there is also ordinary trash that is thrown into the natural environment as well as in our cities and towns. That is why it is important that we all help each other keep our surroundings clean and speak up if we see someone littering—whether it’s cigarette butts or something else. Trash belongs in the trash can, she says.
The municipal director also extends special thanks to the businesses that contributed ice cream, beverages, and other support on the day.
At the same time, the Municipality of Kujalleq encourages participants to share photos from the collection day in the comments section on Facebook. The municipality will review the photos and then select one or more winners, who will receive a small gift.
Finally, we would also like to thank the municipality’s technical department, which handled the practical work and the collection of the waste.
“This certainly won’t be the last time, and I’m already looking forward to our next joint effort,” says City Manager Randi Vestergaard Evaldsen.
