The Municipality of Qeqqata is now inviting the residents of Sisimiut to take part in a large-scale community spring cleaning effort in Sisimiut leading up to National Day on June 21. The goal is clear: a cleaner environment and a shared responsibility for the town’s appearance.
The municipality aims to bring together businesses, associations, organizations, school classes, and volunteers in a coordinated effort to remove litter from various areas of the city. The spring cleanup must be completed by June 18, 2026.
“Let’s work together on the spring cleaning in Sisimiut,” urges the municipality.
Fees for participating organizations and school classes
Clubs and organizations that participate in the spring cleaning can receive a stipend of 2,000 kroner for their efforts.
The same applies to school classes, which are also expected to help raise awareness among children and young people about the impact of waste on the environment. However, the municipality notes that the amount may be adjusted depending on the volume of waste collected in each area.
