The Technical Department is an independent department under the “Buildings and Facilities” staff function, where the department is responsible for the operation of buildings and technical installations at Queen Ingrid’s Hospital in Nuuk. The Technical Department is physically located in Nuuk at Queen Ingrid’s Hospital.

As Technical Manager, you will be responsible for leading the work of the department’s staff, ensuring that legally required inspections are carried out, develop an annual work plan for your department, prioritize reported issues from employees at Queen Ingrid’s Hospital, and, of course, serve as a sounding board for the Chief of Staff for Buildings and Facilities. You will be part of the Buildings and Facilities management team, which consists of a Chief of Staff, a Medical Equipment Department Head, project managers, and you as Technical Manager.

We offer:

  • Exciting and varied work tasks that will be both enriching and challenging—professionally, in terms of leadership, and, of course, personally.
  • A position with a high degree of leadership responsibility, in which you will be responsible for personnel management, operations management, and financial management, as well as having to weigh many different considerations.
  • An exciting opportunity to help shape the future of critical infrastructure, where healthcare professionals rely heavily on the physical environment—for which you will be responsible.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Have experience with or are interested in a broad-based leadership position in Greenland, taking into account the cultural and professional considerations involved in such a position.
  • You have been trained to perform both administrative and managerial duties. You are expected to be a certified marine engineer.
  • Has experience with or is willing to take on the management of both employees and operations.
  • Do you have experience with, or are you interested in learning about, health-related considerations within your field of work?
  • Has good teamwork skills, especially when things are moving quickly or when clear priorities need to be set.
  • Has strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Knowledge of the Greenlandic language is an asset but not a requirement.
