are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on all weekdays. If you have a background as a healthcare assistant or nurse, you should expect to work one weekend shift every 6–8 weeks in the Health Center’s inpatient ward. The
position is available as a temporary assignment lasting 4–5 months.
Your duties will consist of assisting customers who come to the pharmacy with a prescription for medication.
You will collaborate with other staff to ensure the supply of medication and nursing supplies to three surrounding villages and the town’s Neriusaaq Nursing Home, which place weekly orders for medication.
In collaboration with psychiatric and somatic home care services, you will dispense medication to the affiliated patients, assist with ordering follow-up blood tests, ECGs, and conduct medication reviews for their patients to promote medication safety and prevent polypharmacy. For the two major annual medication orders, the pharmacist will visit Maniitsoq. Between orders, there will be ongoing collaboration and consultation with the pharmacists at Sisimiut Regional Hospital.

About Us:
The Maniitsoq Health Center is part of the Qeqqa Health Region and has about 60 employees. These are distributed among the health center and the three affiliated nursing stations in the district’s villages.
The health center’s inpatient ward has capacity for 18 hospitalized patients of all ages with various medical conditions—including medical and surgical patients—and, from time to time, psychiatric patients are also admitted. The staff team consists of 4–5 nurses, 4 healthcare assistants, and 4 healthcare aides. The nurses work day and evening shifts and, after the evening shift, are on call at night from their homes—with a doctor on standby. Between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m., the inpatient ward functions as an emergency room—however, we do not expect you to have emergency room experience.
The health center provides primary care services, including somatic and psychiatric home care, public health services, prenatal care, physical therapy, a sexually transmitted disease and family planning clinic, as well as 2–3 physician consultations. In addition, the center has a laboratory, X-ray facility, nursing consultation, emergency room/reception area, and pharmacy.
We place great emphasis on ensuring that the care and treatment of our patients are guided by values such as respect, integrity, recognition, and trust. These same values shape the way we interact with one another at the health center.
A Little About Maniitsoq:
Maniitsoq is located on Greenland’s west coast, just south of the Arctic Circle, between Nuuk to the south and Sisimiut to the north. The Maniitsoq area is very beautiful, surrounded by high, jagged mountains with glaciers that stretch down to deep fjords. There are approximately 3,800 residents in the district, with about 2,800 living in the town and the rest in the district’s three villages. The villages are visited several times a year, and transportation is by boat. The town has most modern amenities, including grocery stores, a domestic airport, weekly connections via the coastal ferry, and, during the summer months, a high-speed boat route to Nuuk.
Summer recreational activities include hiking in the mountains and sailing among the humpback whales, which are among the things that characterize our district. During the winter months, the Northern Lights dance across the evening and night skies, and during the day, visitors can enjoy downhill and cross-country skiing. In addition, Maniitsoq has an evening school offering many exciting activities, and a variety of sports activities are available year-round.
