The Municipality of Qeqertalik is seeking a committee secretary to begin duties on June 1, 2026, or as agreed.
As secretary of the committee, you are responsible for the political administration of the Municipality of Qeqertalik
This position is based at INUA, and your department head is the Secretary-General of the Secretariat.
Your closest coworkers are the Head of the Secretariat, the specialized staff in the relevant committees, and other external stakeholders in that field. In addition, there are internal staff within the Secretariat.
In addition to the Board’s administrative duties, you will serve as the primary liaison to the Chair of the Municipal Council. Currently, the permanent committees are as follows: the Thimi Tarn Committee, the Inocarfik Committee, and the Inuit Committee.
Your daily duties and responsibilities include:
You will hold a position on a committee that is always composed of five members and five alternate members.
The education staff submit case summaries for the committee’s consideration.
They are responsible for ensuring that the Head of the Secretariat receives information and is continuously kept informed about developments and trends in the field.
Conduct a general review to ensure that the case presentation complies with all relevant laws and principles.
Ensure that all relevant documents have been scanned, linked to the citizen’s case record, and attached to the case summary.
Adapt and improve work processes.
Ensure that decisions, projects, and initiatives aimed at establishing academic standards, implementing legal requirements, or carrying out operational development projects engage the appropriate parties.
Preparation for and participation in the committee’s site visit.
Including other duties as may arise in the Office of the Secretary.
We expect you to possess the following professional skills:
Has the appropriate qualifications
Knowledge of the regulatory framework for public administration and of the laws related to local government management.
Experience with organizations under political supervision
We expect you to follow this as well:
Has good teamwork and communication skills.
Has a unique ability to monitor various tasks and manage both heavy and routine work.
Keep a close eye on political events.
Criminal Record:
This position is subject to the law on criminal record checks. Work cannot begin until the local authority receives the results of the criminal record check. Therefore, it must be clarified that a start date cannot be agreed upon until the local authority receives the criminal record check results from the police.
Salary and working conditions:
The terms and conditions of employment, including travel expenses for starting and leaving the position, and the transportation of household goods, will be determined in accordance with the relevant agreement or collective bargaining agreement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant organization authorized to negotiate at the time of appointment.
Residence:
Accommodation may be provided for employees where appropriate, on the condition of payment of a deposit, rent, electricity, water, and other charges in accordance with the regulations in force at the time regarding the payment of rent for properties of the Government of Greenland and the municipalities, etc., in Greenland.
