The Department of Education, Culture, Sports, and Church Affairs is seeking a new colleague for the Finance Division—a new colleague who can ensure the efficient and structured processing of course funding for the business community and vocational education programs, while also further developing and continuously strengthening budget and financial management across the entire education, culture, sports, and church sectors.

Your personal qualifications:
We are looking for a colleague who is professionally committed and has the ability and desire to be part of collaborative teams that place a high priority on development. We’re looking for someone who takes pride in delivering high-quality professional work and who approaches tasks in a structured manner. Tasks range widely from administration and operations to development and policy support.

We would like to see:

  • You have a relevant academic or vocational degree, preferably in business administration or the social sciences.
  • You have experience in a similar position or in a position within the financial sector.
  • You have a good understanding of bookkeeping, finance, and statistical work.
  • You have a good understanding of Greenlandic society and the public sector in Greenland.
  • You have strong language skills, preferably in Greenlandic and English.
  • You are able to maintain a clear overview of a complex process even under time pressure.

Specific tasks:

  • Processing of course funding applications for the business community.
  • Coordination and dialogue with educational institutions regarding course funding.
  • Daily Bookkeeping in IRIS
  • Management Accounting and Financial Analysis.
  • Contribute to the development and optimization of work processes in the finance department.
  • Provide consulting services to a number of institutions based on the department's internal authority to issue instructions.
  • Conduct site visits, either alone or with other members of the team, to assist and advise institutional leadership in emergency situations.
  • Professional: Processing of policy proposals.
  • Academic: Consideration of a Section 37 inquiry from the Inatsisartut.
  • Drafting of departmental instructions and guidelines for subordinate operational units.
  • Ad hoc financial, statistical, and accounting tasks.

Salary and Terms
of Employment: Salary and terms of employment, including the right to travel upon joining or leaving the position and to relocation of household goods, in accordance with the agreement or collective bargaining agreement in effect at the time of employment between the Greenland Self-Government and the relevant bargaining organization.

Housing
: No staff housing is provided for this position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment with the Self-Government, the right to assigned staff housing is retained. Staff housing is tied to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of employment.
