The Municipality of Qeqertalik is seeking a social worker with a degree in social work for a permanent position starting July 1, 2026, or as otherwise agreed.

The position is a 40-hour-a-week position based at the Qaammaavik family center.

The counselor reports to the department head at the Family Center

Main job responsibilities

·Counseling and guidance, as well as family therapy

·Open counseling sessions

·Participate in emergency response efforts

·Counseling sessions for mothers referred to Early Intervention

·Coordinate and take the lead in family group conferencing.

·Counseling sessions with abused children and adolescents

Salary and Employment Terms

Salary and employment terms will be determined in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement with the relevant union authorized to negotiate at any given time.

Housing:

Staff housing may be provided for this position, for which a security deposit, rent, utilities, etc., will be paid in accordance with the rules in effect at any given time regarding rent payments for properties owned by the Government of Greenland and the municipality, etc., in Greenland. If permanent staff housing cannot be made available immediately upon starting employment, employees entitled to vacant housing will be offered temporary vacant housing, for which A-tax on non-monetary benefits will be paid in accordance with applicable law. 

OR The start date depends on when staff housing becomes available. Travel expenses for the move and household goods relocation will be covered in accordance with applicable regulations.

Staff housing must be vacated upon termination of employment. 

Criminal Record

This position is subject to the law requiring a criminal background check. Under this law, employment cannot begin until the municipality has received a criminal background check. We must therefore point out that the start date cannot be agreed upon until the municipality has received the criminal background check from the police.
