Intern for the Microbiology Laboratory in Nuuk, Greenland.

If you’re looking for an internship as part of your laboratory training and are about to start your mandatory internship, you have the opportunity to join our team

We are currently looking for a dedicated laboratory intern for our laboratory in Nuuk, to start on February 1, 2027 (or by mutual agreement).

Royal Greenland offers you an apprenticeship in an international workplace where no two days are alike and where you’ll face exciting challenges. Royal Greenland A/S, owned by the Government of Greenland, is Greenland’s largest global company, with operations spanning fishing, production, marketing, and sales.

The group has 49 factories worldwide, 38 of which are in Greenland, and operates 11 trawlers/vessels that deliver their catch to landing sites along the coast.

About the internship

  • At the main laboratory in Nuuk, you will be part of a team of five laboratory technicians who provide services to Royal Greenland’s many factories and facilities on the west coast, as well as to trawlers, by conducting physical and microbiological analyses of finished product, operational, and hygiene samples.
  • You will be trained in how to work with your colleagues to ensure that the quality of our products always meets both regulatory requirements and Royal Greenland’s high standards.
  • In addition, you will participate in a range of production-related analyses, such as hygiene inspections of production areas and various ad hoc tasks, which also include the preparation and quality assurance of substrates and other tasks that ensure and document the quality of the laboratory’s analyses.
  • All in all, you can look forward to an exciting workday filled with a variety of professional challenges.
  • As well as daily contact with our colleagues onshore.
  • We have a relaxed, open, and honest atmosphere. We place a high priority on the work environment, offer a great deal of freedom with responsibility, and look out for one another in all situations.
  • The workweek is 40 hours.
  • You should expect to work on weekends and certain holidays.
  • Salary is determined in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement (the Industrial Salaried Employees' Agreement)
  • We offer 5 weeks of paid vacation, as well as coverage of travel expenses to and from the internship location upon completion of the internship.
  • In addition, there may be an opportunity to participate in a boot camp, which focuses on personal development and building camaraderie with other trainees at the company, as well as the chance to experience another part of Greenland

Who are you?

  • We expect you to have completed the classroom portion of the laboratory training program and to be ready to begin the mandatory internship.
  • You are willing and eager to live and work in Nuuk during your internship.
  • You have a knack for IT and experience with Microsoft Office
  • You will be introduced to SAP.
  • You’re a team player with a lot of drive and a positive attitude, but you’re also able to work independently and help get the department’s tasks done on time—even under pressure.
  • You are highly flexible and adaptable.
  • If you are bilingual in Greenlandic and Danish, that would be preferred.
  • For you, it goes without saying and is completely natural to perform your work meticulously, with a strong focus on quality, safety, and responsibility.

Quote from former intern Liloz Ali:

“Everyday life at Royal Greenland’s main laboratory alternates between busy and quieter days. As an intern, you’ll work on various microbiological analyses and tasks in a positive work environment where you’ll be warmly welcomed and quickly feel like part of the team.”

In addition, I had the opportunity to visit one of Royal Greenland’s plants in Sisimiut, which gave me valuable insight into the company. Living in Nuuk has also been a truly special experience. The nature and culture make everyday life an experience in itself. All in all, it has been a unique opportunity to develop professionally, experience Greenland, and become part of a large international company.”
