A position as a home-based child care provider in the Municipality of Qeqertalik Ikerasaarsuk is now open

as of June 1, 2026, or as otherwise agreed.

The child care provider’s immediate supervisor is the department head at Meeqqerivik Qupannaat in Kangaatsiaq.

The applicant’s area of responsibility and duties:

● Responsible for caring for children in a responsible and safe manner.

● Children must not be left unattended.

● The child care provider must not leave the home, and must not leave the children unattended. 

● In addition, the children are served light meals in the morning, at lunchtime, and in the afternoon.

Applicant’s qualifications:

● The child care provider must have plenty of capacity and be cheerful and ready to welcome children starting at 7:30 a.m.

● The child care provider’s home must be clean and tidy, and must be well-ventilated by 7:30 a.m.

● The child’s guardian must always be able to provide information about the child’s well-being.

● During working hours, visitors from the city or other towns are not permitted. If visitors need access to the childminder’s home, they should, as far as possible, remain in another room.

● Pursuant to Section 7 of Inatsisartut Act No. 15 of May 26, 2010, smoking is not permitted in rooms used for daycare. In rooms primarily used as playrooms and common areas for children, smoking is prohibited at all times,

● Alcohol consumption is not permitted between 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

● To protect children with allergies and public health, keeping pets is not permitted.

Salary and Employment Conditions

Employment is governed by the collective bargaining agreement between Naalakkersuisut and Sulinermik Inuutissarsiutillit Kattuffiat for municipal child care providers.

● For full-time employees, the weekly workweek is 47½ hours, and for part-time employees, it is 30 hours.

● Working hours are spread over the first five weekdays of the week, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

● For work performed after 5:00 p.m., no overtime pay will be provided; instead, overtime is compensated with an on-call allowance of DKK 2,400.00 for full-time employees.

Housing cannot be provided.

A prerequisite for employment is that the applicant has a clean child protection and criminal record check, which will be obtained by the municipality with the applicant’s consent; the criminal record check must be obtained by the applicant from the police. In addition, all individuals over the age of 15 in the applicant’s household must submit a child protection certificate.

Applicants must be in good health. It must be ensured that applicants do not have any infectious diseases.
