The Municipality of Qeqertalik is seeking a case worker for the Children and Youth Department in Aasiaat, to start on June 1, 2026, or as otherwise agreed.
Duties and responsibilities will include:
- Handling cases involving children and adolescents, including the recording and documentation of relevant information.
- Obtaining the necessary information in connection with the processing of cases involving children and young people.
- Implementation of relevant measures for children, youth, and families, including the development of action plans and the conduct of social work assessments.
- Conducting interviews with children, adolescents, and families.
- Handling of placement cases within the framework of the law, including planning and managing cases in a responsible manner, as well as collaborating with parents and prospective placement facilities. Modifying placements, as well as supporting and carrying out the placement itself.
- Individualized supervision of children placed outside the home
- Handling of reports
- Participation in on-call and standby duty arrangements outside normal working hours.
Qualifications:
- A qualified social worker or someone with another relevant educational background.
- Experience working with people with disabilities, including experience providing support in accordance with the legislation on assistance for children and adults with disabilities.
- Proficiency in using computers and relevant work tools.
- I am reliable, responsible, meticulous, and a team player.
- Mental resilience is a requirement for this position.
Salary and employment conditions:
Salary and employment conditions are governed by the collective agreement in effect at the time of employment between Naalakkersuisut and the authorized bargaining organization.
Housing
Staff housing may be provided for this position; a security deposit, rent, utilities, etc., will be paid in accordance with the rules in effect at any given time regarding rent payments for properties owned by the Government of Greenland and the municipality, etc., in Greenland. If permanent staff housing cannot be made available immediately upon starting employment, employees entitled to vacant housing will be offered temporary vacant housing, for which A-tax on non-monetary benefits will be paid in accordance with applicable law.
OR The start date depends on when staff housing becomes available. Travel expenses for the move and household goods relocation will be covered in accordance with current regulations.
Staff housing must be vacated upon termination of employment.
Criminal and Child Protection Records:
This position is subject to the law requiring criminal and child protection background checks. Under the law, employment cannot begin until the municipality has received satisfactory criminal and child protection background checks. We must therefore note that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received a child protection certificate from the National Police and a criminal record check from the Police.
The Child Protection Certificate is obtained by the municipality with the individual’s consent, whereas the criminal record is obtained by the individual from the police.
