The retirement and nursing home/home care service is seeking 1 janitor to start on July 1, 2026, or as otherwise agreed.

 “The Integrated Municipal Care Program” is a merger of the municipality’s nursing home and home care services. It employs one janitor, one janitorial assistant, and one janitorial assistant in a flex job; the immediate supervisor is the Director.

The duties of the janitors 

–Transportation services, such as home health aides who need to be driven to a location farther away.

– The position involves janitorial duties across the retirement home’s three current units. You will therefore be working at multiple locations on a daily basis. You are expected to be able to travel between units as needed.

  • Delivery and pickup of goods. 
  • Minor furniture repairs and maintenance, as well as inspection of the home's furnishings
  • Minor repairs, maintenance, and inspections of clients' assistive devices
  • Shopping for the residents
  • Caretaker Coordinator.
  • You can expect to be on call after regular workdays, including weekends and holidays

  • Has a driver's license

– It would be helpful if you are familiar with various tasks

Salary and employment terms:

Work hours: 80 hours every 14 days; a driver’s license is required.

If the home care janitor’s assistant has a driver’s license, you will work on a rotating basis with the other janitor and the home care janitor’s assistant on weekends and public holidays, in accordance with the work schedule,

Every second or third weekend, you must be on call; this is compensated with a monthly allowance.

Salary and terms of employment are governed by the collective agreement in effect at the time of hire between Naalakkersuisut and the authorized bargaining organization. 

You should also expect to work on public holidays on a rotating basis with the other custodian, in accordance with the work schedule. Every other weekend, you must be on call; this is compensated with a monthly allowance. 

Employment in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreements between Naalakkersuisut, the Ministry of Finance, and SIK for heating engineers, janitors, and building superintendents.

Criminal record:

This position is subject to the law requiring a criminal background check. Under the law, employment cannot begin until the municipality has received a criminal background check. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the criminal record check from the police.
