“DIKP” (the Integrated Municipal Care System), which includes both nursing homes and home care services, is seeking a kitchen manager who is a trained nutrition assistant, a culinary manager, chef, or kitchen manager/kitchen assistant, or possibly a trained junior chef or food service assistant with extensive experience working in commercial kitchens or institutional kitchens, including the management of staff and administrative tasks.

The kitchen is responsible for providing meals to the 35 residents of the retirement and nursing home and one respite care client, as well as approximately 20 meal clients in the city.

There are 10 staff members in the kitchen, including 3 kitchen apprentices, an acting kitchen manager, and a sous chef.

Responsibilities and primary duties:

The kitchen manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of all tasks related to the kitchen, including staff; your immediate supervisor will be the director:             

-Plan, delegate, prepare, and ensure the quality of meals for residents at ADH and for clients receiving home care services.

-To consistently provide, at every meal, a sufficient—that is, nutritious, appropriate, and varied—diet tailored to the needs of each resident or client.

-Continuously ensure the development of food services through interdisciplinary collaboration with residents and care staff

-Managing the food budget- in consultation with the Headmaster

-Handle orders and the administration of food and other supplies for the kitchen, in consultation with the Director

-Ensure optimal hygiene standards, cleaning, and maintenance of equipment, etc., in the kitchen and storage rooms containing freezers and food items, etc.

-Preparation of meal plans and special dietary plans

-Organize, plan, and coordinate tasks related to the kitchen area, as well as prepare work schedules.

-Teaching, mentoring, and professional development for staff and students

Salary and terms of employment:

Salary and terms of employment, including the right to travel expenses upon taking up and leaving a position and to relocation assistance, are determined in accordance with the agreement or collective bargaining agreement in effect at the time of appointment between the Government of Greenland and the relevant bargaining organization.

Housing:

Staff housing may be provided for this position; a security deposit, rent, utilities, etc., will be paid in accordance with the rules in effect at any given time regarding rent payments for properties owned by the Government of Greenland and the municipality, etc., in Greenland. If permanent staff housing cannot be made available immediately upon starting employment, employees entitled to vacant housing will be offered temporary vacant housing, for which A-tax on non-monetary benefits will be paid in accordance with applicable law.

OR The start date depends on when staff housing becomes available. Relocation travel expenses and moving expenses for household goods will be provided in accordance with applicable regulations.

Staff housing must be vacated upon termination of employment.

Criminal record:

This position is subject to the law requiring a criminal background check. Under this law, employment cannot begin until the municipality has received a criminal background check. We must therefore point out that the start date cannot be agreed upon until the municipality has received the criminal background check from the police.
