Signing of agreements between the French Minister for Foreign Trade and Economic Attractiveness, Nicolas Forissier; the French Minister for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Trade, Crafts, Tourism, and Purchasing Power, Serge Papin, and the Naalakkersuisoq for Foreign Affairs, Business, and Natural Resources, Múte B. Egede
Naalakkersuisoq for Foreign Affairs, Business, and Natural Resources, Múte B. Egede, together with the French Minister for Foreign Trade and Economic Attractiveness, Nicolas Forissier, and the Minister for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Trade, Crafts, Tourism, and Purchasing Power, Serge Papin, signed two cooperation agreements with France during a visit to Paris on September 4, 2026.
The agreements cover, respectively, the establishment of a partnership dialogue between the two countries as well as cooperation in research and culture, and cooperation in the field of tourism.
Together with a previously signed agreement on cooperation in the mineral sector, Naalakkersuisut has thus worked purposefully with the French government to strengthen cooperation and bilateral relations.
Naalakkersuisoq Múte B. Egede also met with the French Minister for European Affairs and Foreign Affairs, Jean-Noël Barrot.
Naalakkersuisoq Múte B. Egede stated:
“France is a strong partner and ally for Greenland at a time of upheaval in the world order as we knew it, and as Greenland moves toward closer cooperation with close allies.
Naalakkersuisut is grateful for the support that the French government—particularly President Macron and Minister for European and Foreign Affairs Barrot—has strongly expressed during a time that has been especially difficult and challenging for Greenland—a situation in which we still find ourselves.
With the establishment of the Partnership Dialogue and various collaborative initiatives, both countries are demonstrating that respectful dialogue and mutual understanding remain the path forward for international cooperation and good relations. I look forward to constructive cooperation with the French government.”
