Naalakkersuisoq for Education, Culture, Sports, and the Church, Nivi Olsen, visited Godthåbhallen in Nuuk on Wednesday, August 5, where she participated in a handball practice with Eyðnudeild Føroyar and the NúK All Stars’ Lykkeliga team.
Eyðnudeild Føroyar is a Faroese handball program for children and young people with special needs. The team will visit Nuuk from August 3 to 10 to meet the Greenlandic players and strengthen the sense of community through sports.
During the visit, the Naalakkersuisoq greeted the players and actively participated in the practice.
– It was a great pleasure to meet the players from both the Faroe Islands and Greenland and witness their dedication and sense of community. Sports can bring joy, self-confidence, and strong relationships. All children and young people should have the opportunity to be part of a community and feel that their strengths are valued,” says Naalakkersuisoq Nivi Olsen.
The visit strengthened the partnership between Greenland and the Faroe Islands and demonstrated that sports can bring children and young people together despite their differences.
