Malene Vahl Rasmussen, mayor of the Municipality of Kujalleq, and Mariane Paviasen Jensen, Naalakkersuisoq for Children, Youth, Justice, and Gender Equality, aim to foster closer and more respectful cooperation in this area, where there have previously been disagreements.
“Our goal is to strengthen our cooperation in a closer and more respectful manner with regard to the area that is now under the responsibility of the Naalakkersuisut. I hope this will lead to stronger cooperation between us and, above all, provide reassurance to the citizens who receive these services,” says Mayor Malene Vahl Rasmussen.
Efforts are also underway to establish a clear and well-defined framework so that this area of responsibility, which has now been transferred to the Government of Greenland, can eventually be returned to the municipality. This requires effective and well-functioning cooperation.
“With a view to eventually transferring responsibility back to the municipality, it is important that the work be planned thoroughly and systematically. There is a great need for clear guidelines for residents, employees, and policymakers. We will therefore begin a respectful collaboration now, so that we have a strong partnership in place before any problems arise,” says Malene Vahl Rasmussen.
– We work for the citizens, and we must not forget that our work has one common goal: to create better conditions for the citizens. It is very important that the work within the administrative departments is carried out safely, properly, and with mutual respect, and that is why we must work well together. As political leaders, it is crucial that we work together. I have therefore met with the mayor, and it is clear that we are in strong agreement and share closely related goals. I look forward to a good collaboration in the future, says Naalakkersuisoq Mariane Paviasen Jensen.
Mayor Malene Vahl Rasmussen and Naalakkersuisoq Mariane Paviasen Jensen met on Wednesday, April 29, in Qaqortoq.
