Would you like to help promote public health, strengthen community life, and create a healthy environment for children, youth, and adults in the Municipality of Kujalleq? We are looking for a proactive and highly qualified prevention consultant to start on October 1, 2026, or as agreed. 

The position is within the Department of Prevention and Culture and reports to the Director of Culture and Leisure. You will play a key role as a bridge-builder between the municipality’s strategic public health goals and dedicated volunteers, schools, institutions, and the local community. 

Your primary responsibilities:

  • Public Health and Campaigns: Develop, coordinate, and implement preventive initiatives and public awareness campaigns focusing on, among other things, substance abuse, tobacco, diet, physical activity, and mental health. 
  • Support for Sports and Community Organizations: Strengthen, motivate, and develop organized sports and volunteer organizations in the municipality. 
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Establish and maintain strong networks with schools, daycare centers, social services, the health care system, the police (SSP), and local organizations. 
  • Consulting and Methodology Development: Advise municipal institutions on health promotion and serve as a subject matter expert on specific or urgent issues. 
  • Project Ownership & Paarisa: Serve as the municipality’s primary point of contact for Paarisa, apply for external project funding (in collaboration with the AC officer), and ensure evaluation and reporting. 
  • Citizen Engagement: Create a framework for active citizen engagement in both cities and towns. 
  • Committee Work: Support and provide professional guidance to relevant prevention committees. 

What we expect from you:

  • Education: You have a relevant degree (e.g., nursing, public health nursing, nutrition and health, early childhood education, social work) or another relevant higher education degree with a specialization in public health. 
  • Experience: You have experience with project management, communication, networking, and behavior change initiatives. 
  • Personal qualities: You are empathetic, a good listener, proactive, and a compelling communicator. 
  • Language: You must be bilingual in Greenlandic and Danish, both in writing and speaking. 

Salary and Terms of Employment:

  • Employment Type: Full-time permanent position. 
  • Collective Bargaining Agreement: Salary and terms of employment are governed by the applicable AK collective bargaining agreement. 
  • Child Protection and Criminal Background Checks: This position is subject to requirements for child protection and criminal background checks. Employment cannot be finalized until satisfactory certificates have been provided.
  • Work Environment: The Municipality of Kujalleq has a smoke-free policy during working hours at all municipal workplaces.
