The position is based in Qaqortoq and is scheduled to be filled as of July 1, 2026, or by mutual agreement.

As a communications officer, you will play a key role in ensuring clear and targeted communication with citizens, employees, and partners. You will work on both strategic and practical aspects of communication across the organization.

The communications officer’s main responsibilities include:

  • Handling information and news both within the municipality and externally.
  • Assist municipal departments with informational materials, advertisements, etc.
  • Help maintain and update the municipality’s website, intranet, and social media.
  • Advise the executive board and functional areas on communication. 
  • Develop and implement communication initiatives in collaboration with management.

Qualifications

  • Relevant education in communications, journalism, or a related field—or equivalent experience.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in Greenlandic and Danish (required). 
  • Experience with digital platforms and social media.
  • Political acumen and good situational awareness.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative, as well as strong teamwork skills.

Salary and employment conditions are determined in accordance with the agreements in effect at any given time between the Government of Greenland and the employee’s authorized bargaining organization.
