The Municipality of Kujalleq is seeking a technician for the Technical Administration Department, based in Qaqortoq.
This position is for someone who wants to play a central role in the day-to-day technical operations of the city and who thrives on coordinating tasks among management, the municipal crew, residents, institutions, and local contractors.
As a technician, you will serve as the local technical coordinator in Qaqortoq, responsible for maintaining an overview, ensuring progress, and following up on the municipality’s operations and maintenance tasks. You will also serve as the immediate supervisor of the foreman in the town.
Your primary job responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include, among other things:
- Daily planning, coordination, and follow-up on technical operations tasks in Qaqortoq.
- Coordination of city operations, maintenance, minor construction projects, and local technical projects.
- Management follow-up and prioritization of tasks in collaboration with the city’s crew leader.
- Conducting on-site inspections and monitoring quality, schedule, and execution.
- Coordination with local tradespeople, suppliers, and contractors.
- Receiving and processing citizen inquiries regarding technical matters.
- Forwarding cases to the appropriate employee or department.
- Monitoring of municipal buildings, institutions, roads, technical facilities, and other operational areas.
- Project management of small-scale technical projects and renovation work.
- Participation in budgeting, budget monitoring, resource tracking, and accounting within one’s own area of responsibility.
- Verification and follow-up based on invoices and work performed.
- Local coordination during vacations, absences, emergencies, and operational challenges.
- Ongoing updates on the status of cases, risks, financial matters, and capacity challenges.
Cross-functional collaboration
You’ll have a wide range of contacts and will work with, among others:
- The foreman and the municipality's field staff.
- Deputy Director and other staff members in Technical Administration.
- Civil engineers in connection with maintenance plans, condition assessments, technical inspections, service agreements, and renovation projects.
- Planning staff involved in land-use cases, public hearings, and planning matters.
- Administrative staff regarding registration, case flow, billing criteria, and citizen services.
- Municipal institutions, local businesses, suppliers, and contractors.
We expect you to
- Has relevant technical, vocational, or construction-related training.
- Involved in operations, maintenance, construction, civil engineering, or technical project coordination.
- Has an understanding of the practical execution of technical tasks.
- Can plan, prioritize, and see multiple tasks through to completion.
- Has experience with or an interest in personnel management and coordinating frontline staff.
- Can supervise tradespeople and contractors.
- Has a good understanding of finance and can handle budget tracking, quotes, invoices, and accounting entries.
- Can communicate clearly and respectfully with citizens, colleagues, and partners.
- Works in a structured, independent, and solution-oriented manner.
- Can maintain a clear overview in a workday that includes both scheduled tasks and urgent operational issues.
- Has basic IT skills and is able to work with administrative systems, email, and documentation.
- I have a driver's license for passenger cars.
Knowledge of municipal operations, public administration, and local conditions in Qaqortoq would be an asset, but is not a requirement.
It would also be an advantage if you are fluent in both Greenlandic and Danish.

Responsibilities and Powers
The technician is responsible for the progress, quality, and local coordination of tasks within their area of responsibility.
Any certification and authorization powers are governed by Kommune Kujalleq’s current delegation of authority chart and the specific guidelines established by management.
Terms of Employment
Salary and employment terms are governed by the applicable collective bargaining agreement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant union.
Housing may be assigned in accordance with the rules in effect at any given time, provided that suitable housing is available. A waiting period for housing assignment is to be expected.
Start Date: September 1, 2026, or as otherwise agreed.
The job is located at the Technical Administration office in Qaqortoq.
