Princess Margrethe School in Upernavik is seeking a dedicated school social worker who is passionate about early intervention, student well-being, and prevention. With us, you’ll have the opportunity to work closely with students, families, teachers, and government agencies to create the best environment for children’s development.
The school social worker will serve as a liaison for the Family Services Administration and, in collaboration with the school, ensure that students with social or behavioral difficulties receive the appropriate support.
Prinsesse Margrethe School is a public elementary school with approximately 180 students in grades 1–10, as well as two special education classes.
Start date: October 1, 2026, or as agreed.
Among other things, you’ll:
- conduct supportive and guidance-oriented conversations with students
- support students who need a good start to their school day
- advise and guide parents and school staff
- participate in interdisciplinary meetings with the Family Services Department
- contribute to early and preventive interventions
- serve as a link between school, home, and government agencies
- help develop the school's efforts to promote well-being and inclusion

- is a trained social worker or has a comparable relevant degree
- enjoys working with children, youth, and families
- works in an appreciative and solution-oriented manner
- can build trust and strong relationships
- is self-reliant and good at seeing the big picture
- has experience in the fields of education, family, or social services
Salary and Terms of Employment
Salaries and terms of employment are governed by the applicable collective bargaining agreement between the Government of Greenland or another organization authorized to negotiate.
The vacation takes place during the students’ summer break.
Unfortunately, housing is not provided.
