We are seeking a subject teacher with expertise in workshop-based work who can also take on a leadership role. The candidate must be able to take responsibility for the planning, coordination, and day-to-day management of Pilersitsivik. The position is available as of August 1, 2026, or by mutual agreement.
Arrowhead
Pilersitsivik is a new program offered by Avannaata Municipality since 2025. The program is aimed at young people who have not yet begun their education or entered the workforce, and offers a non-academic curriculum with a strong emphasis on personal development. Among other things, Pilersitsivik gives students the opportunity to work in the kitchen, in a creative space, and in the workshop. The purpose of the program is to better prepare students for education or employment upon completion of the program.
Duties and responsibilities:
·Plan and carry out creative activities and projects, including field trips.
·Responsible for two employees at Pilersitsivik.
·We prefer an employee who can teach workshop skills.
·Motivational conversations and activities.
·Help students based on their individual circumstances, including supporting them in getting started with education or work.
·Outreach efforts and establishing contact with various companies and educational institutions with a view to collaboration
·Develop the position in collaboration with other employees at Majoriaq
We expect you to play an active role in the day-to-day operations of Pilersitsvik and to assign tasks in a way that helps students understand their responsibilities and develop a sense of accountability.
Qualifications:
- Do you have training in the trades or a related field?
- Has an educational understanding of young people facing challenges.
- I'd like to work with young people between the ages of 16 and 25.
- Is hardworking and reliable, and has no problems with alcohol or other drugs.
- Is bilingual in Greenlandic and Danish, but this is not a requirement.
You should anticipate the possibility of continuing education in this field, particularly during your initial teacher training and your training as a mentor.
Salary and employment terms:
·Employment is governed by the applicable collective agreement for managers under the agreement between Naalakkersuisut and SIK, or by the AK functional collective agreement.
