The Municipality of Qeqertalik Qasigiannguit Qeersaat Illuat is seeking a custodian to begin employment on August 1, 2026, or as otherwise agreed.

The position is for 40 hours per week. The building was completed in 2009 and is designed to accommodate 20 residents; it is divided into four floors and has an elevator. In addition, there are approximately 30 staff members. A wide variety of maintenance tasks can be expected both inside the building and in the outdoor areas. On a daily basis, the custodian is also responsible for collaborating with external partners and managing the main storage area.

Basement: Janitor’s workshop and main storage area

Ground Floor: Main entrance, commercial kitchen, dining hall, laundry room, break room, offices, staff locker room, gymnasium

On the first and second floors, there are living rooms for residents, balconies, a kitchen-dining area, a laundry room, and a bathroom.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance of the building and outdoor areas
  • Heating Control and Adjustment
  • Ventilation
  • Snow Removal
  • Post
  • Deposits
  • Help with ordering items online.
  • Fill up the living rooms with various items
  • Maintaining tools and ensuring they are up to date
  • Collaboration with tradespeople and business partners in connection with the execution of projects
  • Trash
  • Maintain and paint the residents' living rooms
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of emergency response and evacuation plans
  • Setting up various items for events: summer parties, meetings, theater performances, celebrations, etc.

Qualifications:

  • That you have solid and broad experience in maintenance
  • Possession of a Category B driver's license
  • That you are well-informed and critical in your decision-making
  • That you have a desire and interest in working with the elderly as well as in maintenance
  • That you have well-developed interdisciplinary collaboration skills
  • That you will help create a positive, creative, inspiring, and nurturing environment
  • Is reliable, quality-conscious, and has an eye for detail
  • Can juggle many tasks at once without losing sight of the big picture
  • Works independently, is responsible, and is service-oriented
  • Demonstrates flexibility in handling work tasks and making ongoing adjustments to the division of labor
  • Ability to work in a focused and organized manner amid a hectic daily routine
  • Is resilient and demonstrates initiative, energy, and drive
  • Actively contributes to the ongoing development and improvement of our work processes

Salary and Terms of Employment: Salary and terms of employment will be determined in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement with the trade union authorized to negotiate at any given time.

Housing is not provided for this position.

Criminal Record:

This position is subject to the law requiring a criminal background check. Under this law, employment cannot begin until the municipality has received a criminal background check. We must therefore point out that the start date cannot be agreed upon until the municipality has received the criminal record check from the police.
