Avannaata Municipality is seeking part-time teachers to fill positions at Atuarfik Mathias Storch in Ilulissat, effective September 14, 2026, or as otherwise agreed. 

Atuarfik Mathias Storch is one of the town’s two schools, with approximately 390 students and 56 staff members. Atuarfik Mathias Storch is a modern school situated in a location with beautiful views and equipped with modern facilities. Atuarfik Mathias Storch is a school that is constantly evolving, and its motto is “A School for Everyone.” 

The employee’s immediate supervisor will be the school principal. 

Key duties and responsibilities: 

• Teach middle school

• Teach at the “Nukaaka Center” 

• Teach individual subjects across grade levels

We expect you to be:

• An educator with a background in social work or teaching experience.

• Responsible, active, and dedicated. 

• Cooperative, approachable, and reliable. 

• Be in good physical and mental health. 

• Can work consistently

• Visionary and innovative in terms of development 

• Positive and motivating

• Sees opportunities rather than limitations

• Motivated to be part of a flexible and development-oriented school environment

• Is open to new teaching methods.

• Is familiar with the iPad and has had good experiences using it.

Salary and Employment: Employment will be based on an agreement between Naalakkersuisut and Ilinniartitsisut Meeqqat Atuarfiannersut Kattuffiat (IMAK). Applicants who are currently civil servants will retain the right to that form of employment.

No housing is provided.

Salary and employment terms are governed by the agreements in effect at the time of hire between the Government of Greenland and Ilinniartitsisut Meeqqat Atuarfiannersut Kattuffiat (IMAK).

Employment is contingent upon the submission of a satisfactory criminal record check and a child protection clearance, which the employer obtains from the National Police after receiving consent from the applicant who has been recommended for hire.
