We have something awesome to offer you if you see challenges as a game. Our occupational therapist has quit,
so we need a new one here!
Assistive devices and ADL training for both children and adults in a pleasant setting. The orthopedic, neurological, psychiatric, and community care groups are diverse, so you’ll need to be adaptable in your work.
Gaze out over the fjord and the mountains—maybe even spot a polar bear, if you’re lucky. Work awaits in several towns, unless you’d rather take a helicopter ride. We don’t have dogs or sleds, but we’d be happy to receive your application. Get started—shear that goat now—and seize this unique opportunity.
To sum it up, we’re looking for an occupational therapist for South Greenland. The position is split between working half-time for the municipality and half-time at Qaqortoq Hospital, and you’ll gain experience with all kinds of diagnoses across a wide range of categories.
We work with citizens and patients of all ages, and our responsibilities include:
·Rehabilitation, restorative, and maintenance training
·Examination and treatment
·Training in clients’ homes and at Terapeuthuset, as well as home visits for assessment and distribution of assistive devices within the municipality
At the hospital, you will perform both clinical and administrative duties, including the examination and treatment of inpatients and outpatients, and you will be part of a multidisciplinary team working with the hospital’s other professional groups.
You’ll be based in Qaqortoq and will divide your time between the municipality and the hospital, where some of your duties will be at one location and others at the other. We’ll, of course, help you figure this out. The job also involves taking business trips to other towns and settlements in the municipality, both for the municipality and the hospital, and these trips usually last one workweek. And transportation is as described above: by helicopter or by boat, since there are no roads between towns and villages.
You’ll find yourself challenged by things you’ve never tried before, and it takes a bit of thinking outside the box—but we help each other.
Terms of employment under the collective bargaining agreement for occupational therapists in Greenland, which include, among other things, travel expenses upon hiring, relocation of household goods, and staff housing.
