Avannaata Municipality is seeking a kitchen manager for the retirement home in Uummannaq, to start on September 1, 2026, or as soon as possible by mutual agreement.

The kitchen manager reports to the director of the retirement home in Uummannaq.

Duties and Responsibilities:

·Operating the kitchen in collaboration with the director of the nursing home.

· Maintenance of equipment and furnishings.

·Ordering food and other necessities.

·Monitoring and controlling the budget.

·A consistent and responsible work ethic.

·Developing meal plans, staff schedules, and vacation schedules.

·Guiding students in the kitchen.

·Calling in substitute teachers in case of absences.

·Assigning tasks in the kitchen and coordinating with the cleaning staff.

Special qualifications:

·Trained chef or holds an equivalent relevant degree.

·Experience with dietary calculations, meal planning, and day-to-day operations.

·Aware of their responsibilities and able to work independently.

·Energetic and motivated to work.

·Has a good overview of all tasks and works flexibly.

·Is cooperative, friendly, and reliable.

·Is physically and mentally healthy.

·Has a vision for a healthy and nutritious diet and the ability to think outside the box.

Salary and Terms of Employment:

Wages and terms of employment are determined in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement between Naalakkersuisut and the organization authorized to negotiate.

Housing is not provided for this position.

Employment is contingent upon the applicant providing a satisfactory criminal background check. The employer will obtain the criminal background check from the National Police once the applicant has given their consent by signing the form.
