The Municipality of Qeqertalik Kangaatsiaq aims to strengthen its work with children and families and is therefore seeking leadership for its family centers. The municipal council is strongly committed to improving its work with vulnerable families and ensuring that families receive the best possible assistance.

About the position:

-You will be the department head and will be responsible for ensuring that family and child-related work at the facility is tailored to the needs

-Can provide family therapy and, ideally, be able to offer crisis support

-Ensure good cooperation with the Inuit department 

-Actively participate in the development of the area, in collaboration with the other managers in the area

-Participates in community development efforts as needed

-We are looking for a psychotherapist/family counselor who can join the multidisciplinary team working with the child and family, and who is passionate about the complex and meaningful work with families experiencing child neglect, families who have experienced trauma, and, in general, families who need help.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • We envision that you have a degree in social work or a background in education, supplemented by advanced training in a therapeutic field—such as psychotherapy—as well as continuing education in family therapy, supervision, trauma-informed treatment, and similar areas.

  • Works in a thoughtful, curious, and systematic manner, drawing on a neuropsychological and trauma-informed framework.

Salary and Employment Conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are governed by the collective bargaining agreement in effect between Naalakkersuisut and the authorized bargaining organization at the time of hire. 

Housing:

Staff housing may be provided for this position, for which a security deposit, rent, utilities, etc., will be paid in accordance with the rules in effect at any given time regarding rent payments for properties owned by the Government of Greenland and municipalities, etc., in Greenland. If permanent staff housing cannot be made available immediately upon starting the position, employees entitled to vacant housing will be offered temporary vacant housing, for which rent, utilities, etc., are paid in accordance with the above. Criminal and Child Protection Background Checks:
This position is subject to the law requiring criminal and child protection background checks. Under the law, employment cannot begin until the municipality has received satisfactory criminal and child protection background checks. We must therefore point out that the start date cannot be agreed upon until the municipality has received a child protection certificate from the National Police and a criminal record check from the police.

The child protection record is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual concerned, while the criminal record is obtained by the individual concerned from the police.
