Would you like to help improve education and translate the municipality’s goals for public schools into solutions that work in the day-to-day operations of schools?
Avannaata Kommunia is seeking an educational consultant who can support school administrators and teachers in their work with educational development, quality, and implementation. You will be closely involved in school practices through dialogue and guidance, which may take place both during school visits and digitally. You will become part of the school district’s subject-area team and play a key role in ensuring alignment between policy decisions, administrative work, and practices in the schools.
About the Position
The school system currently faces many policy objectives and development tasks. As a learning consultant, you will help translate these into realistic initiatives, clear workflows, and practical tools. You will see these initiatives through to completion in close collaboration with the subject area manager, the school consultant, school principals, and school staff. This collaboration takes place through the administrative office, digitally, and through visits to the schools as needed.
The position focuses on learning and educational development. Digital solutions must be used in a targeted manner and based on clear educational value. Among other things, you will support distance learning and contribute to monitoring and evaluating schools’ use of iPads and other digital tools.
About Us
You will become part of the professional team in the school sector under the Department of Culture, Schools, and Preschools. We work for the children and with one another, and we emphasize professionalism, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration. You will also be part of the department’s overall staff, which serves elected officials, schools, daycare centers, MISI Avannaa, and the municipality’s residents.
Your Main Responsibilities
• Support the implementation of policy decisions and professional initiatives in the field of education.
• Provide advice and guidance to school administrators and teachers on teaching, learning, and professional development—both online and through school visits.
• Contribute to school visits in the municipality’s towns and villages and follow up on agreed-upon initiatives.
• Plan and implement professional development, workshops, and hands-on training programs.
• Strengthen schools’ efforts in the ongoing evaluation, documentation, and use of relevant data.
• Contribute to the development and coordination of distance learning.
• Provide guidance on the targeted use of digital tools, including iPads, where they offer clear educational value—particularly in the context of distance learning.
• Prepare proposals, guidelines, and other professional materials, and contribute to case processing and follow-up.
• Collaboration across schools, subject areas, and relevant external partners.
What we expect from you
• Is a certified teacher or has other relevant training in education, preferably with experience in elementary school.
• Has an eye for both the day-to-day practices of schools and long-term professional development.
• Can translate goals, knowledge, and data into concrete and practical actions.
• Can communicate clearly and inspire buy-in among managers and employees.
• Works in a structured and independent manner and sees agreements and tasks through to completion.
• Has strong collaboration skills and enjoys interacting with a wide variety of schools and professional groups.
• Is prepared to travel within the municipality when required by the job.
A relevant associate’s, master’s, or bachelor’s degree is a plus, but not a requirement. Knowledge of the Greenlandic school system, as well as proficiency in Greenlandic and Danish, will also be a plus.
We offer
• A key professional role with the opportunity to influence the development of the municipality’s schools.
• A variety of tasks and close collaboration with schools throughout Avannaata Municipality.
• A collegial work environment that fosters professional collaboration and encourages independent responsibility.
