The position of Head of the Housing Unit for People with Disabilities at Eqqissisimaarfik, Saattut, in the Municipality of Avannaata, Uummannaq, is now open for applications. The position is to be filled as of September 15, 2026, or as otherwise agreed.

The immediate supervisor is the department head at the Uummannaq Child and Family Services Office, and the immediate colleagues are employees at the Saattut residential facility for people with disabilities. 

     The responsibilities of immediate supervisors include, among other things, the following:

·Ensures that the department head is informed and kept up to date on all relevant matters concerning the housing units.

·Ensures that proposed solutions are developed when issues arise in the housing units.

·Provides regular updates on their interactions with residents in the housing units and their immediate family members, particularly with a view to ensuring the residents’ well-being. 

·Provides regular updates on the content of staff meetings with employees at the residential units and ensures that feedback from the municipality’s political and administrative leadership is communicated to employees at the residential units

·Provides ongoing updates on their collaboration with staff in other municipal departments related to disability services (the disability services department and financial case workers) as well as external partners in interdisciplinary collaboration, including through regular meetings with the department head.

·Provides ongoing updates on the status of expenses for residential units and contributes to statistics in the field of institutions for people with disabilities, including through regular reports.

·Provides regular updates on the most important issues concerning residents’ funds and spending money, and explains how these issues are being addressed.

·Provides ongoing updates on all complaints regarding care, support, and activities at the residential units and ensures that these are addressed as quickly as possible in collaboration with the department head and relevant municipal staff.

·The on-call system is used only in the event of serious illness among residents, acute crises, or similar situations, and at all times subject to prior approval by the department head of the local social services department based on a written, reasoned recommendation, and for no more than one month at a time.

We are seeking a candidate for this position with the following qualifications:

-Nurse, physical therapist, healthcare assistant, or similar.

-The administrative track at Aqutsisoq and theoretical management training.

-Experience working in the field of disability services or in elder care.

Salary and Terms of Employment:

Salary and terms of employment are governed by the collective bargaining agreement in effect between Naalakkersuisut and the authorized bargaining organization at the time of hire.

Staff housing cannot be provided.
