Avannaata Municipality is seeking an educator/preschool teacher to fill a position at Atuarfik Mathias Storch in Ilulissat, effective September 15, 2026, or as otherwise agreed. 

Atuarfik Mathias Storch is one of the town’s two schools, with approximately 390 students and 56 staff members. Atuarfik Mathias Storch is a modern school situated in a location with beautiful views and equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. Atuarfik Mathias Storch is a school that is constantly evolving, and its motto is “A School for Everyone.” 

The employee’s immediate supervisor will be the school principal. 

Key duties and responsibilities: 

• Teach at the “Nukaaka Center,” which is a specialized department for the AMS and AJB schools.

• Educator, preferably with teaching experience.

• Be in good physical and mental health.

• Is open to new teaching methods.

• Is familiar with the iPad and has had positive experiences using it.

Salary and Employment:

Salary and terms of employment are governed by the collective bargaining agreement in effect at the time of hire between Naalakkersuisut and the organization authorized to negotiate.

Applicants who are currently civil servants will retain the right to this type of employment.

No housing is provided.

Salary and employment terms are governed by the agreements in effect at the time of hire between the Government of Greenland and Ilinniartitsisut Meeqqat Atuarfiannersut Kattuffiat (IMAK).

Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory criminal record check and a child protection clearance, which the employer will obtain from the National Police Agency with the consent of the applicant who is recommended for hire.
