The Municipality of Qeqertalik, Aasiaat, is seeking two early childhood educators for Meeqqerivik Ukaleq. Meeqqerivik Ukaleq is a new integrated facility that opened in November 2017. It has three classrooms: two for infants and one for preschoolers.
General information for the preschool / daycare center:
·This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week. The daycare center/nursery has two age groups, with 24 spots for children aged 0 to 3 and 20 spots for children aged 3 to 6. The position is in the nursery.
·After the children move from one room to another, for example, from the nursery to the preschool or from the preschool to the nursery.
·The administration of the daycare centers falls under the jurisdiction of INUIT.
Applicant’s qualifications:
·Certified early childhood educator.
·Experience with personnel management and administration in a daycare center.
·Be responsible, have a good overview, and demonstrate empathy and adaptability.
·Be able to handle stressful situations, be flexible, cooperative, approachable, and reliable.
·Good physical and mental health, and an open and cheerful disposition.
·Be committed to working in accordance with the daycare center’s objectives and action plans.
Salary and employment terms:
Salary and terms of employment will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
No housing is provided.
Criminal and Child Protection Records:
This position is subject to the law requiring the submission of criminal and child protection background checks. Under the law, employment cannot begin until the municipality has received satisfactory criminal and child protection background checks. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received a child protection certificate from the National Police and a criminal record check from the Police.
The Child Protection Certificate is obtained by the municipality with the individual’s consent, while the criminal record is obtained by the individual from the police.
