Gammeqarfik is a school with approximately 420 students and 44 teachers, organized into grade-level groups.

Gammeqarfik School is looking for 5 teachers.

Positions filled by teachers must be able to teach:  

2 teachers for middle school in the following subjects: Personal Development, Greenlandic, Danish, English, Mathematics, Physical Education, Local Elections, History/Social Studies, Religion and Philosophy, and Science

3 teachers for the upper grades in the following subjects: all subjects and language subjects: Danish, English, Social Studies / History, Mathematics, Religion and Philosophy, Biology, Physical Geography, Personal Development, Electives, Home Economics, and Physical Education and Outdoor Life

Appointment will be made in accordance with the agreement between the Government of Greenland and Ilinniartitsisut Meeqqat Atuarfianneersut Kattuffiat (IMAK). Applicants who are currently civil servants will retain the right to this form of employment.

Criminal and Child Protection Records:

This position is subject to the law requiring criminal and child protection background checks. Under the law, employment cannot begin until the municipality has received satisfactory criminal and child protection background checks. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received a child protection certificate from the National Police and a criminal record check from the Police.

The Child Protection Certificate is obtained by the municipality with the individual’s consent, whereas the criminal record is obtained by the individual from the police.

Housing:

Staff housing may be provided for this position; a security deposit, rent, utilities, etc., will be paid in accordance with the rules in effect at any given time regarding rent payments for properties owned by the Government of Greenland and the municipality, etc., in Greenland. If permanent company housing cannot be made available immediately upon starting employment, employees entitled to vacant housing will be offered temporary vacant housing, for which A-tax on fringe benefits will be paid in accordance with applicable law. 

OR The start date depends on when staff housing becomes available. Travel expenses for the move and household goods relocation will be covered in accordance with current regulations.

Staff housing must be vacated upon termination of employment.
