Atuarfik Inussuk is now ready to begin using its new facilities. The staff moved in on August 3 and have begun preparing for the new school year, while the students will have their first day of school at the new school on August 17, 2026.
As part of the launch, AKO will begin using its new facilities on August 10 for students in 2nd and 3rd grade. Incoming first-grade students will begin at AKO on August 13, in accordance with the date stated in their enrollment letters.
For the first day of school on August 17, for safety reasons, only students in grades 2 through 10 will be allowed to enter the school. First-grade students may be accompanied inside by their parents, guardians, or relatives. Parents will be invited inside for the opening ceremony.
Over the past few months, the final stages of construction have been completed. The furnishings have been moved in, the final preparations have been carried out, and a new bus stop has been established near the school. In addition, a transportation plan will be published with practical information on topics such as bus stops and access routes.
The official dedication of Atuarfik Inussuk will take place on October 1, 2026. The date was chosen to give students the opportunity to be part of the planning and celebration of their new school.
