The team is participating in the Futsal Week Summer Cup alongside 16 national teams and will open the tournament against the defending European champions from Portugal.
Greenland’s U19 men’s national futsal team is traveling to Poreč, Croatia, to participate in the Futsal Week Summer Cup. With 16 national teams participating, the tournament is second only to the U19 European Championship as the largest of its kind for national teams.
The 16 teams are: Spain, Poland, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Serbia, Finland, Croatia, Morocco, Germany, Ukraine, Japan, Turkey, Slovenia, Malta, Kuwait, and Greenland.
The tournament is played as a cup competition. Greenland is in the same half as Portugal, Serbia, Morocco, Japan, Malta, Finland, and Ukraine.
The first match is against the defending European champions, Portugal. Portugal won the 2025 UEFA U19 Futsal EURO with a 3-2 victory over Spain in extra time in the final in Chișinău, Moldova. It was the country’s second consecutive European title.
“Starting off against the defending European champions says a lot about the level of competition we’re facing. We’re not just going there to get results, but to measure ourselves against the best and learn from the experience. It’s this kind of experience that will elevate Greenlandic futsal in the long run,” say the U19 national team coaches: Lars-Erik Reimer, Aqqalooraq Møller-Lund, and Patrick Frederiksen.
