Destination Paamiut has now completed the first new foundation, which means that a pontoon bridge is now available to the town’s boat operators and visitors.
The Business Division also expects to complete the second foundation within the coming weeks. Once the work is finished, there will be two foundations and associated pontoon bridges available.
The pontoon bridges were built in response to the positive growth in tourism. This year, as many as five boat operators are expected to be active in the destination, and the need for improved facilities has been a key priority among local tourism stakeholders.
The investment is also particularly important in light of the many cruise ship calls at Paamiut. To ensure a positive experience for both guests and operators, it is crucial that the destination has a well-functioning and modern infrastructure. Therefore, the Business Development Department has prioritized the project using funds from the cruise ship tax as part of the ongoing destination development.
