The Sermersooq Municipal Authority’s business partnership now has nearly 70 participants and is working on concrete solutions in areas such as commercial real estate, tourism, and education
Nuuk Forum has grown significantly since its inception in 2025 and now has approximately 67 participants from businesses, organizations, and Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq. This is according to a status report presented to the Finance and Business Committee on June 9.
The forum was established as a partnership between the municipality and the business community to strengthen dialogue and find common solutions to challenges in the capital.
According to the municipality, interest is growing, and new inquiries are coming in regularly from companies and organizations that wish to participate.
From dialogue to concrete initiatives
Nuuk Forum operates through several working groups that focus on areas such as commercial real estate, investments, culture and tourism, local businesses, and education.
One of the groups is working on proposals for the development of commercial areas in Nuuk in collaboration with the consulting firm Rambøll. Another group is focusing on how capital expenditures can be converted into concrete projects more quickly.
Efforts are also underway to foster closer collaboration between schools and the business community through a proposal for a “business backpack,” which is intended to make it easier for companies to get involved in education and upskilling.
The municipality states that the goal is not only to foster dialogue, but also to turn ideas into concrete changes and policy decisions.
